The Iced Lattes Worth Knowing

Iced Caffè Latte

The Iced Caffè Latte is the base: Signature Roast shots, 2% milk, ice. 130 calories, 11 g of sugar from milk alone, 150 mg of caffeine, $5.65. Every other drink in this section is this plus something.

  • Why choose it: the lightest and cheapest iced latte, and the one to customize.
  • Nutrition tip: it is already unsweetened; one pump of syrup keeps it under 160 calories.

Iced Starbucks Blonde Vanilla Latte

The Iced Starbucks Blonde Vanilla Latte uses Blonde shots and vanilla syrup, and it is the default flavored iced latte for a large share of regulars. 190 calories, 28 g of sugar, 170 mg, $6.45.

  • Why choose it: smooth, mildly sweet, a little more caffeine than the Signature builds.
  • Nutrition tip: sugar-free vanilla exists and takes almost all the sugar out.

Iced Lavender Latte and Iced Toasted Coconut Latte

The Iced Lavender Latte (180 calories) and the Iced Toasted Coconut Latte (190 calories) are the two lighter flavored builds, both under 200 calories in a Grande with around 25 g of sugar. Lavender is a spring seasonal that has stuck around; coconut is a summer one.

  • Why choose them: flavor without the calorie load of the cold foam and whipped builds.

Iced Cinnamon Dolce Latte and Iced Pistachio Latte

The Iced Cinnamon Dolce Latte comes with whipped cream and cinnamon dolce topping, 300 calories and 35 g of sugar. The Iced Pistachio Latte carries a salted brown-butter topping at 260 calories and 40 g of sugar. Both are treats rather than everyday coffees.

  • Nutrition tip: no whip on the cinnamon dolce removes a large share of its fat.

The Protein Iced Lattes

Four builds use protein milk and a protein-boosted syrup: Iced Vanilla Protein Latte, Iced Caramel Protein Latte and their sugar-free versions. Each carries 29 g of protein in a Grande. The sugar-free pair sit at 200 calories and 9 g of sugar, which makes them the lowest-sugar flavored lattes in the section.

  • Why choose them: a coffee that doubles as a snack.
  • Price note: they run about two dollars above the plain iced latte.

The Seasonal and Cold Foam Builds

The Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte at 370 calories, the Iced Pecan Crunch Latte at 380 and the Iced Banana Bread Latte at 420 are the heavy end. The banana bread build adds brown sugar cold foam, which is why it tops the section on both calories and sugar at 52 g.

  • Nutrition tip: a Tall of any of these is a reasonable treat; the Venti is a dessert.

How Much Sugar Is in a Starbucks Iced Latte?

From 11 g in the plain drink to 52 g in the banana bread build. The plain latte's sugar is lactose; everything above it is syrup, sauce or foam. A Grande gets four pumps of syrup as standard, at roughly 5 g of sugar each, so the vanilla latte's extra sugar is almost entirely pumps you can remove.

The sugar-free protein lattes are the exception that proves it: same milk, sugar-free syrup, and the sugar drops to 9 g.

Dairy-Free and Lighter Iced Lattes

  • Any iced latte can be made with oat, almond, soy or coconut milk. Almond is the lightest; oat is the creamiest. Nondairy milk usually adds about 70 cents.
  • The cold foam and whipped toppings are dairy. Skip them for a dairy-free drink; the syrups themselves are fine.
  • Halve the pumps. Two pumps instead of four saves about 40 calories and 10 g of sugar in a Grande.
  • Sugar-free vanilla is available in every store and makes the Blonde Vanilla Latte nearly sugar-free.
  • Size down. A Tall carries one shot and roughly two thirds of the milk; the calories drop by a third on every build.
  • Ask for light ice only if you want more milk. Less ice means more liquid, which means more calories.

None of the iced lattes declare an allergen beyond milk (none declared), and all are made on a shared espresso bar. The allergen guide lists the toppings that carry nuts or soy.
